Fiji Police have confirmed that 12 people have been rescued from Tuvuca Island in Vanuabalavu, Lau.
The 12 were part of the group that went for a picnic at Tuvuca Is yesterday.
However, police said that a 12-year-old girl remained missing.
“In the afternoon (yesterday), the villagers received a call that the boat that left in the morning had capsized. On their way to Tavunuku Island, they rescued 12 people, three have died and one was missing at sea,” police said.
“The search continued this morning with villagers and police officers from Vanuabalavu Police Station.”
