NASINU women’s rugby team manager Loraini Nahovahova has credited dedication, teamwork and unity for the side’s commanding 126-3 victory over Rewa in round eight of the Subrails Marama Cup championship at Burebasaga ground on Saturday.
Nahovahova said the team dedicated the win to their families and supporters, whose backing had helped them throughout their campaign.
Unlike teams representing their respective provinces, Nasinu women’s is a club side made up of players from different backgrounds, united by their families and a supportive community.
She expressed gratitude to everyone who had contributed to the team’s success, saying the players had prepared well for their match against Rewa on their home turf.
“It was all about dedication and teamwork to ensure the victory,” she said.
Nahovahova said the players’ unity had been central to their performance.
“If there’s unity, God commands His blessing,” she said.
The team will now turn its attention to round nine of the Subrail Marama Cup championship where they will face Kadavu.
While acknowledging that Kadavu would be a challenging opponent, Nahovahova said her side looked forward to the contest.
Meanwhile, other results saw Suva beat Namosi 36-24, Nadi defeat Tailevu 51-29, and Tailevu beat Lautoka 58-36.
Ba and Naitasiri drew 26-all, while Kadavu defeated Macuata 41-36.
Nasinu’s 126-3 win over Rewa was the biggest result of the round.
