National Workers Union general secretary Felix Anthony appeared at the Suva Magistrates Court today.

The matter was called before Suva Magistrate Waleen George.

Mr Anthony  is charged with one count of malicious act under the Public Order Act.

He is alleged to have spread false news relating to the expiry of the Water Authority of Fiji’s workers’ contracts, false news which tended to create or foster public anxiety.

The court heard that there were no available hearing dates for this year.

Mr Anthony had his bail extended.

The case has been adjourned to November 9.
