The second and final trial saw 40 netters taken to the test at the Vodafone Areana in Suva as they sweat for a place in the final 30.

The 40 were trimmed from an initial squad of 60 last month.

“We’ve had three gym sessions and two on court in a week so, our coach and strength and conditioning coaches are working together in regards to their fitness and court work. From my observation, so far so good,” team manager Lusiana Rakavono said.

“All the girls have worked hard for their spot so, it will be tough to select the final 30.”

Apart from the local players, a number of overseas-based players have also declared their interest to join.

“We have a few international interest but for now we are concentrating on the locals,” Rakavono added.

“So far we have seven overseas players interested, there’s one from the United Kingdom, four from Australia and two from New Zealand.”

These overseas-based players are expected to join the team in August where they will be put to the trial.

The team will compete in a Quad Series in August before the qualifiers in September.

The final 30-member squad will be named on April 12.

The Netball World Youth Cup will be held next year in Gibraltar.
