Two children have been hospitalised following separate motor vehicle accidents last Sunday morning.

The first incident along Khalsa Road involved a 10-year-old girl who was allegedly hit by a taxi driven by a 30-year-old man.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the victim had allegedly crossed the road when the accident occurred.

She said the suspect had been questioned and investigations were continuing.

In the other incident at the Delakado junction in Tailevu, an 11-year-old child was allegedly hit by a vehicle driven by a 36-year-old farmer.

“The suspect allegedly lost control of the vehicle he was driving causing it to veer onto the opposite lane where his vehicle hit the victim who was walking on the side of the road,” Ms Naisoro said.

“The suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol and did not possess a valid driver’s licence.”

Investigations are continuing.
