Nineteen-year-old Inia Tudrau is eager to demonstrate his abilities after being selected for the Vodafone Fiji U20 team to debut at the upcoming Oceania Rugby U20 Challenge in Auckland.
His rugby journey commenced at Veiuto Primary School, where he excelled as a member of the U14 team before earning a spot on the Suva Kaji Rugby U14 team.
Tudrau continued to shine at Suva Grammar Secondary School, making significant contributions to the U15, U16, and U17 teams. His standout performance in the U18 Dean’s competition in 2022, culminating in reaching the final, further solidified his stature as a talented player.
Tudrau was then selected to join the prestigious High-Performance Unit Academy, where he underwent valuable development and enhancement, particularly in refining his out-player skills.
“It was really a great experience, I learned a lot of things every day at HPU Academy, especially on my out-player skills and the academy really teaches me a lot,” Tudrau said.
“This experience was instrumental in my growth and progress as a rugby player, and my capabilities on the field.”
As he anticipates his inaugural participation at the Oceania Rugby U20 Challenge, Tudrau is committed to giving his all, adhering to coaching instructions, and working diligently to excel in the competition.
Tudrau’s family has been a steadfast source of support, with his parents particularly encouraging and guiding his endeavors.
“The player I always look up to is Meli Derenalagi, he plays all positions in the forwards, locks, flanker, and number eight.”
The Fiji Under 20s will be participating in the Oceania Rugby Under 20 Challenge that will be held from February 26 to March 6.
