THE reliability of supply chains and real-time tracking visibility have emerged as the core pillars keeping Fijian businesses connected to global markets amidst ongoing disruptions.
Speaking on current investment trends in interview on the occasion of DHL Express Fiji’s 50th anniversary, country head Sarvesh Devan said that infrastructural development in the transport sector must directly translate to operational speed and ease for the consumer.
“Whatever investment we do, it’s about making easy for the customers,” Mr Devan told this newspaper.
“Our track and trace, the reliability in terms of speed that we have for connecting customer shipments and the visibility that they get—whether you see it real time, whether it’s through pick up a phone call or sending an email—the real-time visibility is there for all customers to see.”
To anchor this operational speed, recent infrastructure overhauls have targeted regional hubs like Nadi.
The company recently moved into a state-of-the-art gateway facility that is four times bigger than previous locations to handle rapid growth.
“We’ve employed more people in Nadi to be able to customs clear inbound shipments faster,” he said, adding that the larger space gave them the vital connectivity required to tranship cargo from Fiji to the wider Pacific Islands.
He said whether the client was an individual or a large-scale commercial business, structural consistency and swift processing were non-negotiable in the current trading landscape.
“I think that’s very important when you have got your shipments, whether you’re a person, an individual or a business, the reliability and the speed is very important and that’s what we have,” Mr Devan said, adding network connectivity and personnel remained the true backbone behind managing those volatile global shipping corridors.
