The Vatuwaqa Rugby Club and Flick Hygiene continued their seven year relationship yesterday.
The club was grateful to businessman Mohammed Tazim for sponsoring their rugby kits. Tazim owns Flick Hygiene and said it was all about giving back to the community where he grew up.
“I know how difficult it is for the players to get funds from outside, he said.
“I thought of investing to the interest of the players,” he said.
“We started slowly in 2017 and now we have gone bigger and for me, it is giving back to where I was raised to become who I am today.
“It’s not only rugby but we have been sponsoring other sports such as netball soccer, golf and mixed-netball.
“We only sponsor where it is needed, we go for the smaller teams because it helps in developing these young players that one day wear the white jersey.”
As a successful businessman, Tazim said coming from this background, the only thing he did was following his dream.
“You got to dream big and then work towards it.
“Work hard and if you are true to it then God will make you successful.” Former team manageress Lavione Meo Seru said with their successful rugby commitment they had seen a drop in the crime rate in their area.
“We are fortunate to have him because he knows what it’s like growing up here.
“Our logo says building championship man on and off the field and that is the whole purpose of his support – to build up these young men to become successful. The club is facilitated under Nasinu Rugby Union and they hope that this season they will make it to the final of the competition.
