Taveuni Rugby Union has received a major boost ahead of the remainder of the 2026 Skipper Cup, with Merchant Finance Limited coming on board as the union’s Official Naming Rights Partner for its final five home matches.

The partnership will provide vital support for Taveuni’s campaign as the island side continues to represent the North as the only Northern team competing in this year’s Skipper Cup.

Taveuni Rugby Union vice-president Iowane Gade said the sponsorship would play an important role in helping the union complete its campaign successfully.

“This sponsorship will make a significant contribution towards the successful completion of our 2026 campaign,” Gade said.

He thanked Merchant Finance for its commitment to the union and said the partnership would benefit players, supporters and the wider Taveuni community.

Merchant Finance chief executive officer Veilawa Rereiwasaliwa said the company was proud to support Taveuni and hoped the partnership could develop into a multi-year arrangement.

“Merchant Finance has a branch in Labasa, Savusavu and Taveuni. We are proud to support Taveuni as the only team from the North playing in the 2026 Skipper Cup,” Rereiwasaliwa said.

The sponsorship will support the hosting of Taveuni’s remaining home fixtures and player participation, while providing Merchant Finance with visibility across match-day activities and community initiatives.

The union believes the partnership will strengthen rugby development and community engagement on the island.
