THE Fiji Consumer Council and the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission will be setting up a 12 member team that will act as a taskforce to investigate traders conducting unfair and illegal trading.
This as many Fijians are now recipients of the Home Care initiative rolled out by Government to assist Fijians who were victims of the back to back Cyclones – Tropical Cyclone Josie and TC Keni – that hit Fiji last month.
In a joint press conference held this morning, FCCC CEO Joel Abraham confirmed he is meeting with Consumer Council of Fiji CEO Premila Kumar in setting up the taskforce and details of the taskforce will be made known later.
Ms Kumar confirmed the Council had received five complaints from consumers so far, one was from a farmer in Nausori and the other four from consumers in the Western Division.
