Suva Cricket Association general secretary Sevuloni Baba said the climax of an all Suva final was testament to the good work the association was doing especially after going through a rebuilding phase.

“After a trying year the association was marred by COVID-19, but we are thankful to have come this far and know the future is even brighter for Suva cricket,” Baba said.

Suva sent both teams to the grand final of the Cricket Fiji Easter Championship where the Warriors beat the Suva Crusaders for the title.

“It was a tough game, all around because no one wants to end up in second place.”

Digicel Suva Warriors won the toss and batted first scoring a total of 110 runs in 20 overs.

The FMF Suva Crusaders chased in the second innings but fell short managing only 70 runs.

Baba said they would look to build development within the association but also looked to help their brethren in the islands.

“We will look to further the game within Suva, but won’t forget our comrades especially in the Lau islands.

“Cricket is one of the oldest traditions in Fiji, and we will look to maintain it and even elevate it to a grander scale.”
