Suva four join club in Israel

Another two Suva Rugby Union players, Ananaia Rabonu and Sailosi Turagaluvu, have joined the bandwagon securing contracts to ply their trade with the Tel Aviv Heat Rugby Club in Israel.

“That makes it four Suva players as they join Israel Immanuel Azariah and Nemani Buliruarua who were signed earlier,” said Suva team manager Nemani Tuifagalele.

Tuifagalele said the movement to greener shores for their players during a tough stringent COVID-19 phase in Fiji was evident of sacrifice.

“It is evidence of digging in hard and the hard work done in their own homes.”

Tuifagalele said although he commended the efforts of their young athletes moving on, the onus was now on players across Suva’s various rugby clubs to fill the void.

“We have development squads and we have raked in players from across Suva, not only in the Escott Shield but also the Koroturaga Championship clubs, and this will be a way we can adapt them to the Suva system.”

Tuifagalele added that this was not the last breed of future rugby stars that will be churned out of the Suva Rugby Union.

“Clubs from overseas are interested in looking at them and we wouldn’t be surprised if more will be going over in the next few months to go and play,” Tuifagalele said.
