FMF Suva will face its biggest challenge yet as they brace for Jacks Nadi in round nine of the Skipper Cup.

The Skipper Cup champions have had some tough competitions in the past rounds and it’s not getting any easier for them as the Farebrother Trophy holders await them at Prince Charles Park on Friday.

For the past three weekends, Suva has been taken to the sword, but they managed to come away with a 22-20 win over Namosi, a 31-22 victory over Nadroga and fought to the wire to beat Naitasiri 28-23.

Head coach Solomone Nute said they were treating each game as a final.

“Even though we are leading the points table, we are treating each game with utmost importance,” he said.

“Nadi is the Farebrother champion, and we are the Skipper Cup champions, so we will be going there for nothing else but a win.”

Their defensive game made a lot of difference in their past games including the one against Naitasiri last Saturday where they forced a knock on to hang on to the win.

“Our defence is our main weapon. We were down to 14 men but I told the boys we treat each game as a final, we are playing to win and at the end of the day, the boys should be commended for their effort,” Nute added.

Friday’s match will commence at 4pm but before that the under-20s will be in action at 2pm.

Four matches will be played on Saturday, Naitasiri takes on Ba at Ratu Cakobau Park, Yasawa meets Namosi at Churchill Park ground two, Macuata hosts Tailevu at Subrail Park and Nadroga faces Lautoka at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

All four matches will kick-off at 3pm.
