Support drops from 82pc

PRIME Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has received 79 per cent approval, a drop from 82 per cent, a latest Tebbutt-Times Poll has revealed.

The poll, which was conducted from October 22 to 24, asked people about how good a job did they think Voreqe Bainimarama, Ro Teimumu Kepa, Professor Biman Prasad, Sitiveni Rabuka, Savenaca Narube, Jagath Karunaratne, Aman Ravindra-Singh and Tupou Draunidalo were doing as Prime Minister, Opposition Leader, National Federation Party leader, Social Democratic Liberal Party leader, Unity Fiji leader, Freedom Alliance party leader, Fiji Labour Party leader and HOPE party leader respectively?

The poll also asked the participants if they would say the individual leaders were doing a “very good job”, “a good job”, an “average job”, “not a very good job”, or “a poor job”.

A resounding 79 per cent of those polled approved Mr Bainimarama as Prime Minister.

He scored the highest approval rating compared with the other leaders.

Of these, 54 per cent said his performance was “very good”, while 25 per cent said he was “doing a good job”.

His approval rating is 3 per cent down from the previous poll conducted in May, but his disapproval rating of 5 per cent remains the lowest out of all leaders rated in the poll.

According to the poll, Ro Teimumu had scored an approval rating of 57 per cent, 9 per cent down from 66 per cent in the May poll. A total of 20 per cent strongly approved of her leadership, while 13 per cent disapproved, a 6 per cent increase from the last poll.

Mr Rabuka received 49 per cent approval ratings compared with 58 per cent recorded in May.

The poll stated that 23 per cent of these strongly approved the former PM as SODELPA leader, while 21 per cent disapproved, an increase of 6 per cent from the previous poll.

Mr Prasad’s role as leader of the NFP was approved of by 36 per cent, a decline from 51 per cent in the previous poll.

His disapproval rating increased from 14 per cent in the May poll to 24 per cent. The poll further stated that Mr Narube scored 35 per cent approval, a drop from 53 per cent in May.

Mr Narube recorded a 24 per cent disapproval rating, an increase from the previous figure of 11 per cent.

Approval for Mr Karunaratne as leader of the FA party stands at 19 per cent, of who 4 per cent strongly approved his leadership.

His disapproval rating stands at 36 per cent. Mr Ravindra-Singh has an approval rating of 26 per cent as leader of the FLP. Of these, 7 per cent strongly approved.

Mr Ravinfra-Singh recorded a disapproval rating of 32 per cent.

Ms Draunidalo received an approval rating of 30 per cent, 7 per cent of who strongly approved her leadership. She has a disapproval rating of 26 per cent. |
