The Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua side lived up to expectations yesterday and pulled off an impressive 39-12 win over the Melbourne Rebels at the HFC Bank Stadium yesterday in their second Super W Championship match.
Denying the visitors any points in the first half, the Fijiana dominated in both their attacks and defence, giving no chance to the Rebels until the sound of the half-time hooter.
Fijiana coach Inoke Male said he was impressed with his side’s performance, but still believed they could have done better.
“We still need improvement in our scrums, mauls, and line-outs, but I’m happy we were able to secure the win,” he said.
The big score by the Fijiana Drua will certainly send a warning to other teams in the Super W Championship.
“We are looking forward to our next game against the Waratahs, and we will go back to camp and work on our weaknesses.”
Meanwhile, Rebels coach Jason Rogers gave credit to the Fijiana side for their hard-working forwards and defensive lines against his side.
“The Fijiana side were just phenomenal in both their attacks and defence, but I’m proud of my girls for standing up to the Super W champions,” he said.
He said there were a lot of lessons his team will take from the match and will work on them as they prepare for the Brumbies.
