Members of the Vanua Levu Muslim League and Sunni Muslim South Pacific celebrated Eid today.

Although many other Muslims celebrated Eid yesterday, the president of this group, Bashir Khan believes they needed to sight the new moon first.

“We didn’t see it on Saturday so we didn’t celebrate yesterday, but our members saw the new moon last night and we are celebrating today,” he said.

“This is a celebration of love and for us to visit families and attend to those who are in need.”

Mr Khan also asked the members to celebrate at their own houses due to the COVID-19 measures in place.
