Fiji Airways Men’s 7s head coach Osea Kolinisau says despite seeing much of improvement in his side’s fitness, he admitted they still had a lot of work to do with two more legs of the HSBC 7s Series left before the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Kolinisau said fitness was his main focus after joining the team as head coach and believes there is still much room for improvement for his side.

“Fitness was the major focus for me after joining the squad, and I can say we are still not where we want to be in terms of fitness,” he said.

“Yes, there have been a lot of improvements since I joined the team, but we can still do better.”

The side is preparing for the Singapore 7s which will be held from May 3-5.

“We’re excited for the Singapore 7s, it’s the second last tournament of the series so we are all looking forward to it.”

Kolinisau said there has been a high intensity among the boys in competing for a spot in the final squad for Singapore.

“There has been a very high competition among the boys, especially in training as everybody wants to book a spot in the final team for Singapore.

“And with the Olympics coming up, training has been more intense than before.”
