The State is not ready for trial in the case involving a 32-year-old man charged with the murder of a New Zealand national in May last year.

Rusiate Sogotubu Raiwalui appeared before High Court in Suva judge Justice Daniel Goundar yesterday for the alleged murder of Ashkan Rikthegazader who was found dead with multiple stab wounds outside the CWM hospital in Suva.

The court heard the Legal Aid Commission would represent the accused during trial which has been fixed for July 27.

State lawyer Juleen Fatiaki told the court they had not served the summons to the witnesses in the case.

She said the prosecution was sorting out statuses of the witnesses.

She also told the court they would be relying on the caution interview statement.

Mr Raiwalui is also charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs after 101.3 grams of cocaine was allegedly found on him last year.

He was further remanded and the matter has been adjourned to July 17.
