State needs time for further amendment in arson case

A 34-year-old man who is alleged to have burnt a neighbour’s house after a martial dispute had his case called today at the High Court in Suva.

Akuila Tubuna appeared before judge Justice Daniel Goundar.

The accused had earlier pleaded guilty in the matter.

The court was informed that the State needed more time until Wednesday this week to make further amendments to the summary of facts.

Mr Tubuna is charged with one count of arson.

It is alleged that on December 26 last year at Nasinu Village, the accused willfully and unlawfully set fire to the dwelling house of Tevita Tukanivatu.

He was further remanded.

The case has been adjourned to June 3, 2020.
