For team Moce, the journey to the Super 8 Cricket Championship is about far more than chasing a title.
It is about proving that talent from Fiji’s maritime islands deserves to be seen, supported and given the opportunity to flourish.
That dream received a timely boost yesterday when TISA Insurance officially handed over its sponsorship to team Moce ahead of the 14th Super 8 Cricket Championship at Albert Park in Suva next week.
The sponsorship includes a team tent and essential tournament equipment, easing some of the financial burden of competing while allowing the players to focus on their cricket.
Moce Cricket Association coach Sisaro Dautu said the support had come at the perfect time.
“This support from TISA Insurance has come at a crucial stage of our preparations. It gives us the resources we need to compete with confidence while showing that someone believes in what we are trying to achieve for our community,” he said.
Dautu said the sponsorship was about much more than equipment.
“It gives our players confidence and motivation because they know a company like TISA Insurance believes in their potential and is willing to invest in their journey.”
He said cricket continued to provide opportunities for young people from the island, teaching values that extended well beyond the boundary ropes.
“Cricket teaches discipline, teamwork, leadership, resilience, respect and accountability. These are qualities that help shape our young people into responsible members of the community.”
Representing TISA Insurance on behalf of chief executive officer David Ariff Chan, Marketing and Business Development manager Bhavik Chand said the company remained committed to strengthening communities through grassroots sport.
“At TISA Insurance, we believe investing in grassroots sport is an investment in our communities. We are proud to support Team Moce and look forward to seeing them compete alongside Fiji’s best cricket teams,” Chand said.
Chand also confirmed that TISA Insurance would officially hand over its sponsorship to Team Namuka-i-Lau next week as preparations continue for the championship.
For Team Moce, the backing is more than sponsorship.
It is a vote of confidence that tells every young cricketer from the island that hard work, commitment, and determination can attract the support needed to keep their dreams alive.
