The Fiji Police Force has confirmed that six cases linked to the Commission of Inquiry (COI) are now awaiting legal advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP.

The six cases are part of a broader set of 12 reports being handled by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), stemming from allegations lodged both before and after the COI proceedings.

“Of the 12 reports, six are currently with the ODPP for independent legal advice,” the Fiji Police said in a statement.

“These include serious allegations of abuse of office, obstruction, and perverting the course of justice.”

Police said two of the six cases were lodged in 2024, while the remaining four reports were filed in 2025.

“Due to the sensitivity and seriousness of these reports, the CID has ensured thorough investigation prior to referring the cases to the ODPP,” the statement read.

The ODPP is now tasked with assessing whether the evidence gathered warrants formal charges or further investigative steps.

The case that has been closed is in relation to a complaint lodged in 2024 against the former FICAC Commissioner, for allegedly disseminating confidential information from the National Voter Registration. The investigation file was returned from the ODPP, and filed, as there was insufficient evidence to proceed.
