THE contribution of seafarers to the industry can never be emphasized enough.
The Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Disaster Management and Meteorological Services, Jone Usamate said this officiating at the International Seafarer’s Day at Fiji Maritime Academy today in Nasese.
Mr Usamate said the achievements of the maritime industry are attributed to seafarers.
“Seafarers are the backbone of the maritime industry, no doubt about that,” Minister Usamate said.
The theme for the celebration is “I AM ON BOARD WITH GENDER EQUALITY” which highlights the opportunities for women, as well as the contributions they are making, in a wide range of maritime careers and professions.
