Schools celebrates life of legendary leader

STUDENTS, teachers, parents and former scholars of Ratu Sukuna Memorial School celebrated Ratu Sukuna Day at the school on Friday last
week.
Students had a traditional welcoming ceremony for the chief guest permanet secretary for Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development Meleti Bainimarama.

Mr Bainimarama said he was deeply honoured to be at the celebration to commemorate the life of a legendary son of Fiji.

“Ratu Sukuna was and exemplary role model challenging us to be better in the way we serve,” said Mr Bainimarama.

Year 12 student Sekove Bigitibau said he was proud to be a student in a school named after a great leader.

“As a prefect of the school it’s good to learn about his life and be a great future leader,” he said.

Ro Senimili Takiveikata Vodovakatani said it was educational to have a celebration.

“Learning a life of an intelligent leader and the new things he invented,” said Ro Senimili.

Students dressed in Chiefs Fijian traditional attire to showcase how chiefs in Fiji are dressed in ceremonies, entertainments and students singing the school song.
