Education is the doorway to living your dreams in numerous career opportunities and I challenge you to work towards your dreams while in school”.
This was the motivational message that the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka relayed to the students of Ratu Naivalu Memorial School in Yalobi, Waya in Yasawa.
Mr Gavoka, according to a Ministry of Education statement, was the first Minister for Education to visit the school.
The 101 students and five teachers welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister to their school.
Mr Gavoka, according to the statement reminded the students about the importance of education during his short visit.
“Being educated in the rural or maritime schools should not deter you from working hard to achieve your goals,” he told the students.
He thanked the teachers for the sacrifices they made in ensuring that students of Waya received quality education in their daily learning and teaching students despite the challenges that encompass remoteness.
He reaffirmed the school community that the Government would continue to promote accessibility to quality and holistic education for all the children of Fiji.
Before leaving the school, he reminded the students to stay committed to education and to make a difference in their vanua and their beloved country.
