THE Fiji Bitter Sevens Series Savusavu 7s is set to celebrate its 15th anniversary this year, a testament to the enduring partnership between Gaunavou Rugby Club and Paradise Beverages.

Over the past 14 years, the Fiji Bitter Savusavu 7s has played a pivotal role in the development of grassroots rugby in the Cakaudrove Province and Vanua Levu, contributing significantly to the economic growth of the Savusavu region.

“The 15th Anniversary of the Fiji Bitter Savusavu 7s marks a milestone in our journey. We are proud to have 32x men’s rugby 7s teams, 16 under-21 teams, and eight women’s rugby 7s teams participating in the tournament.

Additionally, we are excited to introduce netball, volleyball, futsal soccer, and snooker as part of the festivities,” tournament director Malakai
Yamaivava said.

“To elevate the competition, the cup winner in the main competition will now receive $10,000, up from $7000. This increase reflects our commitment to rewarding and encouraging the talents of our local teams,” he added.

The tournament promises to showcase thrilling rugby action, with new teams joining the competition after closely following the last two legs of the Fiji Bitter Sevens Series Tournament. Vanua Levu residents are guaranteed three days of top-notch local 7s rugby.

The tournament will be held from December 14-16 at Ganilau Park in Savusavu.
