FORMER national rep Anand Sami says Lautoka has a good chance of retaining the Courts Inter District Championship title.

The former Labasa and Tavua coach met the team on Monday after his appointment to head the development work in Lautoka.

Sami said the Blues had some talented players and guided by one of the best coaches in the country.

He said he didn’t want to change anything within the team but would support Swamy to deliver the goods for the sugar city boys.

“I am delighted to be back in the country especially on the development side where Fiji FA needs more emphasis,” said Sami.

“In fact Fiji FA has been doing that for the past and now the districts have taken ownership of their own development.

“As for the Lautoka boys they have won the Vodafone Premier League and have a good chance at the IDC.

“They have some good players with some in the national team but I haven’t seen much of the other boys.”

Sami said Swamy had been doing wonders for Lautoka in the past games.

“Actually I have the full respect for the coach and he has produced results for Lautoka. “I don’t want to confuse the players but leave all the decision for the head coach. I am delighted to team up with Lautoka and will do my best as required of me.”

Lautoka will face Ba in its opening game and later faces Labasa and new0comer Nasinu.

Meanwhile, Suva, Nadi, Rewa and Tavua will battle for the best two spots in the other pool.

The IDC is scheduled at the ANZ Stadium nest weekend.
