FIJI Water Flying Fijians are aware of what a place in the semi-final at the Rugby World Cup will mean to the people of Fiji. Team captain Waisea Nayacalevu said this was his team’s opportunity to prove their worth.
“It means everything to us. I know it has been 16 years since we have been in the quarter-finals and I told the boys the chance is in front of us and this moment will never come back so we will grab it with both hands, take responsibility and do the best we can,” the national captain said.
Nayacalevu acknowledged the support of neutrals at the many stadiums they have played in France.
“It boosts us in the game. We can feel it. We are grateful for that.”
He said the side was also playing for the neighbouring Pacific Island nations and all the tier two teams.
“We have a lot of support too from our neighbouring countries, so we are representing them all in the South Pacific.”
The match kicks off at 3am tomorrow.
