POLICE investigators are zeroing in on the military officers who were allegedly involved in the death of Jone Vakarisi last month.

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said police have yet to charge the officers as they continue their investigations.

“Our teams are now at the camp and they have been there for the last few days,” said Mr Tudravu.

“Our investigations have gone on well and we are happy that the Commander has given their support towards the police investigations.

“I have not been briefed if anyone has been taken in for questioning but as of now their statements have been recorded and the investigation team is zeroing in to that area and I will come to that with an update if we come to that line.”

He said military officers at the Nabua camp’s medical centre have also been questioned.

“As I have stated we are heading there and we are following up on the processes and procedures that need to be done well in terms of the investigation.”

Commissioner Tudravu added the Vakarisi investigations were conducted together with the alleged breach of two military armories.

“There are two teams that are covering that and all investigations are going on well.”

Mr Vakarisi died in military custody in April after being detained for alleged national security breaches.
