THE Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) and Vision Motors will explore combining anti-drug and HIV awareness campaigns under their renewed three-year partnership.

Vision Motors Dealer Principal Partner Ajay Lal said the company wanted to use rugby’s national reach and available resources to address important social issues.

“We have the resources, the manpower, everything. Let’s combine the two concepts and then let’s drive it forward,” Lal said.

The partnership, which began in 2023, will continue for another three years, with the sponsorship investment expected to approach $1 million this year.

FRU director Anare Manulevu acknowledged Vision Motors’ contribution, saying its support extended beyond providing vehicles.

“Their contribution has gone well beyond providing vehicles, they have helped us deliver our rugby programmes more effectively,” Manulevu said.

Lal said the company deliberately focused its sponsorship resources on rugby rather than spreading its investment across several sports.

“It’s the biggest game on everybody’s mind. When the Flying Fijians play, all of us are watching,” he said.

He said concentrating on one sporting platform enabled Vision Motors to maximise its investment and promote its products and brand more effectively.

The renewal partnership will be provided an opportunity for both organisations to strengthen their relationship while exploring initiatives that use rugby’s influence to benefit communities.
