Plans are being considered to improve the market condition in Nabouwalu, Bua.

Savusavu and Labasa towns administrator Doreen Robinson confirmed that plans were being developed to improve the condition for market vendors.

“We definitely have plans to improve the condition but at this stage, I cannot comment any further,” she said.

The assurance has gone down well with vendors who have had to brave the rainy days in the market.

Vendor Marica Wainivu said the leaking roof had not helped vendors as crops were damaged.

“When it rains, the water flows through the roof and sometimes our products get wet and damaged so we hope something is done about it,” she said.

Other vendors shared similar experiences describing the situation as a challenge.

Market master Viliame Vatuilagi said the vendors had been patient over the past years having to sell in such conditions during rainy days.

“It’s good that our administrators are already working on plans to improve the market condition and the vendors also need a good surrounding.”
