NOT relying on freebies from the Government and teaching their younger Delainakaikai brothers to be self-reliant is the focus for the Ratu Kadavulevu School Old Boys Association.
Agriculture and aquaculture students from the all-boys boarding school yesterday harvested tilapia from three of their fish ponds.
Agriculture teacher Alifereti Korovulavula said the project was a good way for students to get hands-on experience of what they learn in the classrooms.
“It will also encourage them to toil the land and take up farming such as these when they leave school,” Mr Korovulavula said.
The tilapia harvested today will feed over 800 boarders at the school come Sunday.
