HILTON Fiji Beach Resort and Spa’s 20 years of operations have highlighted the role of long-term private investment in supporting Fiji’s tourism economy, employment and hospitality skills development.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka said the resort’s two-decade presence in Fiji demonstrated the value of sustained investment in the tourism sector.
“Twenty years of Hilton in Fiji is what sustainable investment looks like in practice,” Mr Gavoka said.
He said Hilton Fiji had welcomed visitors from around the world while providing employment opportunities and contributing to the development of hospitality skills.
Mr Gavoka said the resort’s team members were central to Fiji’s tourism product, translating the country’s reputation for warmth and hospitality into the experience visitors received.
“Through your service, your hospitality and the bula spirit you share every day, you turn Fiji’s reputation into a lived experience for our guests.”
He said Fiji made a promise to visitors before they arrived and Hilton staff were among those responsible for delivering that promise.
The 20th anniversary celebration at the Denarau Island, Nadi, resort brought together tourism industry partners, invited guests, Hilton Fiji staff and management.
The resort also marked the milestone by planting 20 trees and burying a time capsule.
