Update: 4:13PM A MAN is awaiting to be sentenced at the High Court in Lautoka after he was convicted yesterday of raping a 15-year-old girl in Sigatoka.
In passing judgement, Justice Sunil Sharma told the court that he concurred with the unanimous opinion of the trial assessors that the accused was guilty of rape and indecent assault.
“I reject the evidence of the accused and the two defence witnesses as unreliable and untruthful,” Justice Sharma said.
The incident occurred in July 2012 resulting in the complainant being pregnant.
Justice Sharma said he accepted the evidence of the complainant as truthful and reliable.
