Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho says the Fiji Police Force is aware of drug dealing and prostitution allegations on a social media post at a Laucala Beach property.

He also said a person of interest in the case was a former police officer. Information on the post alluded to a house being used to sell marijuana, methamphetamine (ice) and cocaine and that young prostitutes would drop by to inject themselves with ice before taking to the streets.

Mr Qiliho said police was aware of the allegations made as it had been a place of interest.

“I can also confirm that the individual named as a person of interest is a former police officer who was dismissed from the organisation due to disciplinary reasons,” the Police Commissioner said.

“While we are in the process of substantiating the allegations made, I can assure the public that appropriate action will be taken if sufficient evidence is gathered to charge those involved.”
