“WE didn’t feel we had trespassed at all, we thought it was a joke when police came in. It could have been a violation of media freedom if it did go further, police were working on instructions so we really can’t blame the Fijian police for this.”

These were the words of Newsroom co-editor Mark Jennings as he relived Wednesday’s detention with his colleagues at the Totogo Police Station in Suva.

Two journalists and a cameraman were detained overnight on Wednesday and were released yesterday.

The incident drew a public apology from the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho.
