Listen to this article:

THE post-mortem examination of a baby whose remains was found in Nadi this week was conducted yesterday, police have confirmed.

West police spokesperson Wame Bautolu said they had yet to question the woman believed to be the mother of the baby.

Mr Bautolu said the woman was still admitted at the Nadi Hospital as her health condition was still bad. He said police would question her once she was better.

The woman in her 20s was arrested this week after the severed body of an infant was found along the Nawajikuma Tramline in Nawaka, Nadi.

Members of the community had alerted police after they saw dogs with the remains of what appeared to be a newborn baby.

Police had also received information that the suspect had allegedly developed complications following the birth of a child.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
