POLITICAL party agents will be allowed to observe the counting process for the 2018 general elections but are required not to interfere in the process.

This was higlighted by Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem during the Count Demonstration held at the FEO’s headquarters in Toorak, Suva, today.

Mr Saneem said counting of votes should not be stopped unless there was a genuine reason.

“In most cases, counting will be stopped if the Presiding officer is of the view that it cannot be reconciled in the presence of excess ballot papers in the ballot box,” Mr Saneem said.

“In that case, the ballot box is then transported to the headquarters for investigations.”
