Police question, release five suspects in alleged health centre attack

Listen to this article:

FIVE men have been questioned and released in the investigations of the alleged attack of a Ministry of Health and Medical Services staff member at the Nasau Health Centre in Ra.

This was confirmed earlier today by Police as investigators continue to gather information.

It is alleged that the staff member was assaulted and threatened while on the job.

Police have also indicated that officers continue to be posted to the centre to provide security for the health officials.

Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is kindly requested to call Crimestoppers on 919.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama last week publicly condemned the incident during the opening the government roadshow in Nawairuku, Ra.

Mr Bainimarama also assured that those responsible would be taken to task.

“It is completely unacceptable what’s happening, and I want every health professional and civil servant in the country to know that your care and protection takes chief priority above all else,” he said.
