Police prosecutors from the Southern Division took time away from their courtroom duties recently to strengthen teamwork and raise cancer awareness during a Pinktober gathering at My Suva Picnic Park.
The gathering brought together officers from Suva, Nasinu and Navua, marking the first time the division had combined a team-building exercise with a Pinktober observance.
Divisional Prosecuting Officer ASP Suliano Saunitoga said the day was an opportunity for officers to take a break from deadlines, files and court appearances and appreciate one another.
“I know not every effort is visible and not every challenge is spoken about. Some of you may be carrying heavy workloads,” he said.
“Today we take a step back. Let us put aside our titles, get to know each other and enjoy each other’s company.”
He said prosecution work came with great responsibility and pressure, and officers often forgot to take time for themselves and their colleagues.
Marking Pinktober, ASP Saunitoga said it was the first time the prosecution division had organised such an observance in its history.
“Pinktober is more than just wearing pink. It is a reminder of many lives affected – mothers, fathers, children.”
He closed the gathering by sharing a quote attributed to Mother Teresa: “I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot, but together we can do great things.”
