THE high-profile case involving Jiuta Raibevu, 51, charged over the disappearance of $31million worth of cocaine exhibits from the Suva High Court registry, has been transferred to the High Court.

Senior Magistrate Sufia Hamza transferred the matter yesterday, remanding Mr Raibevu in custody until his first High Court appearance on November 16, when bail will be determined.

Represented by Tevita and Ulamila Vakalalabure, Mr Raibevu faces counts of interfering with evidence and unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

Mr Raibevu allegedly collaborated to seize and possess 39.5 kilograms of cocaine-exhibit material in the Suva High Court registry from the trial of Fiji-Canadian national Joshua Aziz Rahman between March 2021 and September 2026.

At his first appearance on October 9, the State opposed bail, citing the risk of interfering with ongoing investigations, including inquiries involving his wife, a former senior judicial department official who is currently in Australia.

The prosecution had also raised his travel history to Australia.
