AS the North police recruitment drive enters its second day, hopeful candidates converged in numbers to partake in the drive’s fitness test yesterday. Beginning on Monday, candidates have turned up in numbers at the station to be part of the drive.
Dreketi native from Muanidevo, Atulesh Maharaj said he was hoping to get into the recruitment training as he had prepared himself.
The youngest of seven siblings, who has been attending tertiary education in Suva, said he wanted to become a policeman.
“Being part of the drive has made me realise the potentials that the profession has,” he said.
“It has also taught me that police work is demanding and requires sacrifice which I am ready for if given a chance to become part of the recruitment training and become a fully fledged officer.”
Nineteen-year-old Asenaca Denicagi said she looked forward to successfully completing the recruitment drive.
Ms Denicagi said if given a chance to become a policewoman, it would be a proud achievement for her as she would be following in her father’s footsteps who was a retired police officer.
“I have prepared well for the recruitment drive and today (yesterday) I am just waiting to complete the fitness test,” she said.
“This is an honourable profession and I know of it learning first-hand from my father,” she said. Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed a recruitment drive was held in the North.
“However, we cannot release any information until our recruitment team returns and conducts the next round of verification and selection process,” said Ms Naisoro.
