Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says his decision to reinstate Aseri Radrodro as Education Minister was merely a matter of “applying the principle of the law”.

He said he did not make public the three-month “yellow card” suspension because it was a decision he made as Head of Government, and he only informed those closely associated to the issue.

“But I’ve done the same with other former ministers when I was Prime Minister in the last term, and three months was applied to those removed,” he said.

“I just did the same here and applied the principle of the law.”

The PM said the three-months gave revelations in terms of “the best and worst” in people’s characters – in how they wrote letters, commented on social media and their utterances in mainstream media.

When quizzed about who he was referring to, Mr Rabuka said “those who dealt with and were involved in the situation surrounding Mr Radrodro”.

“The three months showed the best and worst in people.”

Mr Rabuka said in the three months Mr Radrodro was stood down, people were brought out of their comfort zone and it was a true test of their character.
