Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and his wife Mary were today honoured as patrons of the newly-opened Sai Sanjeevani Medical Centre located at Muanikau in Suva.

The centre is going to be the first paediatric hospital in Fiji and the region.

The centre’s medical director, Dr Krupali Tappoo, says they will be providing services free of charge.

“Of course, Mrs Bainimarama and I are deeply honoured to be Patron and Patroness of the Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Heart Hospital, a facility that will save the lives of countless children who suffer from congenital heart disease in Fiji and the Pacific,” Mr Bainimarama said.
He says in Fiji, it is the Government’s responsibility to provide education, health care and social services to the people.

“But no government can do it all alone,“ he said.

More details will be published in tomorrow’s edition of The Sunday Times.
