PEACEKEEPING, maritime security and professional military education are some of the areas that will be discussed between Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and Admiral Phil Davidson, the visiting 25th Commander of United States Pacific Command.

This was highlighted by Defence Attache’ Officer CDR Constantine Panayiotou during a short discussion at the US Embassy in Suva today.

Mr Panayiotou said there would be an increase in the number of members of the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces that would go as students to the United States to study under different programs.

He said Admiral Davidson was looking forward to seeing Fiji and meeting Mr Bainimarama to discuss security matters in the South Pacific.

He said that security cooperation between Fiji and the United States would also form part of the agenda.

Mr Panayiotou noted that this year was Fiji’s 40th anniversary of peacekeeping operations across the globe.
