YOUNG footballers competing at the Fiji Secondary Schools Football Association tournament in Labasa have been urged to use the four-day competition as an opportunity to catch the attention of national selectors.
Association president Aminesh Ram said scouts would be present at Subrail Park during the tournament to identify promising players.
“There will be scouts here during the four-day tournament, so play your best and give it everything you have,” he said.
Mr Ram said the tournament provided an important platform for students to show their talent and demonstrate their ability against some of the best school players in the country.
He urged them to remain focused throughout the competition and make the most of every match.
“Those who perform well could be selected to represent Fiji in international tournaments.”
He reminded players that their performance on the field could open doors to greater opportunities in their football careers.
“Every match is an opportunity to prove what you can do on the field,” Ram said.
He also urged players to support their teammates and play with confidence.
“Give your best from the first whistle until the final whistle because you never know who might be watching.”
The first game kicks off today.
