PORT Denarau Marina Ltd (PDML) director Bruce Phillips has resigned from his directorship role after six years on the PDML board.

Announcing Mr Phillips’ resignation this week, PDML board chairman Malakai Naiyaga said he was well versed with industry knowledge and experience in refrigeration and of the hotel construction in Denarau.

“The board records its sincere appreciation for Mr Phillips’ positive contribution to PDML. The board and management thank him for his dedicated service and wish him well in his future endeavours,” Mr Naiyaga said.

Mr Phillips, originally from Wellington, New Zealand, moved to Fiji in 1970, where he worked for Burns Philp (SS) Ltd.

He later sailed a charter vessel in the British Virgin Islands and Europe.

Returning to Fiji in 1976 with his wife Lesley, he founded Kooline Refrigeration (Lautoka) Ltd, a successful business that he ran for four decades, later relocating to Denarau in 2008.

He has collaborated on various construction projects and was involved in community service, including leadership roles in yacht clubs and sports teams.

His resignation was effective on July 1, 2026.
