People should continue to visit the dentist no matter condition of their oral health, says Fiji Dental Association president Dr Leenu Maimanuku.
She made this comment in commemoration of Oral Health Day celebrated yesterday where free dental check-up were provided across the country. She said Fiji would be observing National Oral Health this week.
She said people should not be afraid to see a dentist.
“Our job is to look after people’s teeth,” Dr Maimanuku said.
“So it doesn’t matter how bad it is when you present to us,that is what we do.
“This is what our purpose is to help people feel better about their teeth.
“It’s important that people have good oral health for the rest of their lives.”
Dr Maimanuku said their dental teams were around the country yesterday to provide services to the people.
“World Oral Health Day is observed on March 20 every year.
“This year again we provided people with free dental check-ups and oral health counselling.
“Preventive procedures are very important and we urge people to take heed of them.”
The theme for this year’s World Oral Health Day was “Be proud of your mouth for your happiness and wellbeing”.
