FIJI’S Bula Boys have received the full backing of the Fiji Football Association (FFA) ahead of the MSG Prime Ministers Cup tournament, with the men’s competition kicking off in Suva today.
FFA president Rajesh Patel expressed confidence in head coach Stephane Auvary’s squad and the vision he has for his relatively young team.
With many young players set to perform in front of their home supporters, Patel is urging them to seize the opportunity to secure professional contracts.
“It is always an honour to represent your country. Give your best, as there are scouts from professional clubs in the region watching. Put on your best show and win a professional contract,” Patel said.
Patel addss the prestigious competition is a vital part of the local football calendar, showcasing more than just football talent.
“When we play, we not only display our football skills, but also share our Melanesian culture and heritage, which we are so proud of,” he said.
Bula Boys begin their MSG Prime Ministers Cup campaign today at 7pm against Papua New Guinea, at Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium eager to make a strong impression on home soil.
