THE Fiji under-19 women’s cricket team produced a dominant performance to secure their second win at the EAP World Cup Qualifiers, defeating Vanuatu by 10 wickets.

The team delivered a clinical all-round display at Amini Park, Port Moresby, PNG, maintaining strong momentum in the tournament and boosting their chances of progressing to the next stage.

Captain Mele Waqanisau led from the front with an outstanding performance. She scored 35 runs with the bat and also impressed with the ball, taking two wickets for just 13 runs in her four overs to earn Player of the Match honours.

Fiji’s bowlers set the tone early, applying pressure and restricting Vanuatu to a manageable total.

In response, the batters showed composure and confidence, chasing down the target comfortably without losing a wicket in a one-sided contest.

The victory sets up a crucial final match against tournament favourites Samoa.

The winner of that encounter will secure qualification for the prestigious ICC U19 Women’s Cricket World Cup, making it a decisive clash for both teams.
