NZ 7s: Fiji pips Samoa in first pool match

THE Fiji men’s managed to outplay a determined Samoa side in their first pool match at the FMG Waikato Stadium.

Fiji scored through Jerry Tuwai for his 128th try in the series, Vilimoni Botitu and Aminiasi Tuimaba.

Fiji led 12-7 at halftime. Coach Gareth Baber said the win came because the players’ were able to read Samoa coach Gordon Tietjen’s game plan. Fiji plays Australia at 6:35pm.
